Master Marine, Inc. delivered its first 2,000 hp Z Drive inland river towboat last month. The towboat represents the first vessel (Entech Design) of this series by the yard. Master Marine said it has not been as active in the past years building towboats as the other yards in the area. The Coast Guard informs it is responding to a 36,563 dwt 656-foot freighter that is hard aground in the downbound shipping channel of Lake St. Clair. Coast Guard Sector Detroit said that the motor vessel Federal Rideau, a Hong Kong-flagged vessel carrying 22,672 tons of wheat, had grounded on the downbownd channel in Lake St. Clair near the Detroit River. The vessel was en route to Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Search for Flight MH370: Update
Australia's Joint Agency Coordination Centre (JACC) says that a bathymetric survey of the 60,000km2 search area is well underway, with two vessels, the Australian-contracted Fugro Equator and the Chinese survey ship Zhu Kezhen, mapping the ocean floor, while the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is coordinating this work. JACC explains that the bathymetric survey will provide crucial knowledge of the seafloor terrain to begin the actual underwater search.

Liquefied Natural Gas Limited today announced that it has significantly expanded its presence in the North American Liquefied NaturalGas (LNG) sector by signing an agreement to acquire 100% of Bear Head LNG Corporation (BHLC)from a subsidiary of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (Anadarko) for US$11.0 million. A 255-acre site comprising industrial-zoned land (180 acres) and deep-water acreage (75 acres) as well as foundations in place for two 180,000 cubic meter LNG tanks.
Russian Navy Expansion Gathers Momentum
The Russian Navy celebrates its professional holiday by putting two new submarines into service and expects a new warship in the fall and several additional ships for its Black Sea Fleet off the Crimean coast in the next three years, reports official news agency Ria Novosti. A multipurpose nuclear submarine Severodvinsk and a Borei-class strategic nuclear submarine Alexander Nevsky will be put into service, with more laid down in the series of the ships.
Offshore Installation at Lerwick
A large steel oil storage tank to be installed west of Shetland as part of Premier’s development of the Solan field has arrived in Lerwick onboard a heavy-transport vessel Xiang Yun Kou, to make use of the port’s deep-water quays and anchorage. The vessel is berthed at Holmsgarth 5 and local engineering and logistics companies have been engaged to prepare the tank prior to it being taken to the field.
