The Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Lilianne Ploumen, and a Dutch Trade Delegation visited Damen Shipyards Cape Town (DSCT) on Tuesday, July 8, 2014. The goal was to get an impression of the way South African and Dutch companies and entrepreneurs are working together. Caterpillar Marine today announced the open order board of the Cat 3516C United States EPA Tier 4 propulsion, auxiliary and diesel electric propulsion (DEP) power solutions. In addition to being EPA Tier 4 certified, the 3516C solutions are IMO II certified and IMO III compliant. The Cat 3516C Tier 4 certified engine is available in a ‘B’ rating of 2,240 bKW at 1,800 rpm and a ‘C’ rating of 2350 bKW at 1,800 rpm. An auxiliary engine is available in a rating of 2,250 ekW at 1,800 rpm.

Europe to Cut Swath in Vessel Port Formalities Paperwork
The European Commission informs that a new global era for maritime transport will dawn in June 2015 when it will unveil harmonised e-reporting for all vessels entering in or departing from EU ports. Vessels will provide required information electronically via one single entry point – the National Single Window. Currently, inward and outward procedures are duplicative and time consuming, resulting in costs and delays, thus making maritime transport less attractive compared to other modes.
Rolls-Royce to Design & Equip Stern Trawler for Prestfjord Havfiske
Rolls-Royce announced it has signed a £7 million contract to design and equip a stern trawler for the Norwegian fishing company Prestfjord Havfiske AS. The trawler is a Rolls-Royce NVC 370 design and will be built at Freire Shipyard in Vigo, Spain. At 69 meters long, the vessel will carry out traditional fishing operations for whitefish and shrimps, and will be equipped for both bottom and pelagic trawl. It will operate mainly in Norwegian, Russian and Greenland waters.
