Study: US Offshore Holds Huge Untapped Potential
Two new studies released today by the National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) and the American Petroleum Institute (API) show significant potential added energy and economic benefits to the United States if the Eastern Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific outer continental shelf (OCS) were opened to offshore oil and natural gas development. Great Lakes Coal Up 9% in October
Coal shipments on the Great Lakes topped 3 million tons in October, an increase of 9 percent compared to a year ago, while shipments also outpaced the month’s long-term average by 75,000 tons, the Lake Carriers’ Association reported. Shipments from Lake Superior ports totaled 1.7 million tons, an increase of 3.5 percent compared to a year ago, and a slight increase over the month’s long-term average.
Deltamarin Contributes to Arctic Carrier Design
Deltamarin Ltd. has provided Aker Arctic Technology Inc. with design services for two polar class heavy deck carrier ships intended for carrying heavy project cargos in large modules to Yamal LNG plant construction site on the Russian Yamal peninsula. Aker Arctic, the main contractor for the design of the vessels, has developed the ship concept with its client ZPCM-Red Box Energy Services and provides the basic design for Guangzhou Shipyard International Co. Ltd.
CMA CGM’s Seasonal Fruit Service Returns
The CMA CGM Group announced its Citrus Express seasonal service will start again in November. Spread over two rotations, this service enables to export citrus fruits and apples from East Mediterranean to the Black Sea. It will call the ports of Syria, Turkey and the Black Sea from November to January, then Egypt, Syria, Turkey and the Black Sea from January to April. According to CMA CGM, the citrus market is growing and benefits the export countries.
