ECDIS Ltd Launch Tokyo Keiki Familiarization Course
U.K.-based ECDIS training and consultancy company ECDIS Ltd. announced the launch of a new course, Tokyo Keiki ECDIS familiarization. This marks the completion of the first stage of course development. As a training partner ECDIS Ltd will progress to delivery of MCA and DNV approved Generic and Nautical Institute accredited Type Specific (Equipment Specific) training on Tokyo Keiki ECDIS software.
Wärtsilä 34DF Recieves U.S. EPA Certificate

Seacurus Provides Industry First
Specialist marine insurance intermediary Seacurus launched a new insurance policy to indemnify seafarers in the event of the financial default of their employers which, for the first time, offers recompense in respect of unpaid crew wages. The policy will enable all employers of seafarers to meet their regulatory obligations under the Maritime Labor Convention 2006 (MLC), which enters force on August 20, 2013.

Korean Yard Wins Chevron FPSO Contract
Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) to build a US$ 1.9-billion order Floating Production Storage and Offloading unit (FPSO) for Chevron North Sea Ltd. Hyundai Heavy is to carry out engineering, procurement, and construction for the floating offshore facility to be deployed in the Rosebank oil & gas field, 175 km northwest of the Shetland Islands. The 99,750-tonne turret moored FPSO is scheduled to be handed over by the end of November 2016.

Inland Salvage successfully delivers salvaged jack-up drill rig which sank last winter in the Gulf of Mexico. In mid-December 2012 a retired jack-up drill rig under tow from Fourchon, LA to be dismantled in Texas began taking on water.
