BP Extends Contract With Aker Solutions
BP has decided to extend the maintenance and modification contract with Aker Solutions, exercising a one year option in the existing agreement for the Ula, Valhall, Hod and Tambar fields. Just the first three months of 2011 have already seen 62 separate wind stoppages totalling 551 hours at the terminal – more than half of 2010’s full total of 964 hours lost to wind over 83 separate occasions.

Spanish Warship Disrupts Suspected Pirates
On 28 March 2011, the EU NAVFOR Spanish warship SPS Canarias disrupted a suspected Pirate Action Group (PAG), consisting of a whaler-style boat and a skiff, 260 Nautical Miles North-West of the Seychelles after a fishing vessel reported the PAGs presence to the warship. As a consequence of the current economic climate, more and more ship owners are forced to lay one or more of their ships up for longer periods. This has, however, no adverse effect on an Ecospeed coating which can always be restored to its optimum condition, regardless of how much fouling has attached itself to the hull while the vessel has been laying idle.
