Rolls-Royce announced that the largest capacity Syncrolift shiplift to be built in Vietnam is now officially open for service. The Syncrolift has been installed as an element of a new shipbuilding and ship repair development at New Song Thu shipyard. Rolls-Royce designed and supplied the Syncrolift, which acts like a large elevator that raises and lowers vessels in and out of the water for dry-docking ashore.
Wärtsilä to Supply Propulsion for Six Offshore Brazil PLVs
Wärtsilä received a significant order to supply the propulsion solutions for six new offshore pipe laying vessels being built by IHC Merwede. Three of the ships are to be built for Subsea 7, the seabed-to-surface engineering, construction, and services contractor to the offshore energy industry. The other three vessels have been ordered by Seabras Sapura, the Sapura Kencana and Seadrill partnership entity.

Tug Fairmount Sherpa has delivered accommodation barge Ayang 2 offshore Angola. The barge was towed from Romania to a location offshore Porto Amboim. The Ayang 2 is an accommodation and work barge owned by the offshore division of Korean group Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering. The 115-meter-long and 32-meter- wide barge, which can accommodate over 350 people, had undergone an upgrading at DSME’s Romanian shipyard in Mangalia, located at the Black Sea coast.

The Royal Australian Navy Ships HMAS Sydney, Warramunga, and Sirius, which are based on both the east and west coast of Australia, have concluded their participation in Exercise Blue Raptor in the Northwest Shelf area. Aberdeen-based subsea installation contractor Bibby Offshore has secured a multi-million pound contract with Maersk Oil U.K. The agreement will see Bibby Offshore commit its Diving Support Vessel (DSV), Bibby Sapphire, to support construction and inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) activities on Maersk Oil U.K.’s North Sea assets for a period of 365 continuous days, starting in early January 2014.
