SMM 2026 Launches Energy Efficiency Hub

The maritime industry faces the dual challenge of reducing emissions while remaining economically competitive. As a result, energy efficiency is becoming one of the key drivers of the sector's transformation.Against this backdrop, SMM will launch the Energy Efficiency Hub, a dedicated exhibition area focusing exclusively on energy efficiency, September 1-4, 2026. Under the motto "Efficiency First: Powering the Future of Shipping," 24 companies from Europe, Asia and the Middle East will showcase solutions designed to improve energy efficiency in shipping.

Start-ups@SMM Bring Fresh Ideas to SMM 2026

SMM is launching Start-ups@SMM, an opportunity for young companies and their developments to take the stage. From September 1-4, international founders will demonstrate in Hamburg how new technologies are transforming the maritime industry.A total of 19 young companies are taking part in Start-ups@SMM, from Germany, across Europe, Canada and Asia. Their technologies focus on artificial intelligence, robotics, autonomous systems, digital analytics as well as technologies for greater energy efficiency and sustainability. The start-ups are located in two joint exhibition areas in Halls A3 and B6. SMM 2024 Exhibition Halls Already Nearly Fully Booked

The SMM 2024 trade show will run from September 3-6 this year, and organizers are expecting more visitors and exhibitors than last time; the exhibition halls are nearly fully booked.“We are expecting more than 2,000 international exhibitors from 70 nations,” says Claus Ulrich Selbach, Business Unit Director Maritime and Technology Fairs & Exhibitions at Hamburg Messe und Congress. “We are overwhelmed by the response. Lücke to the Helm of Key German Maritime Exhibitions

Christoph Lücke is taking on the role of Project Head of Hamburg Messe und Congress’ maritime trade fairs SMM, MARINE INTERIORS Cruise & Ferry Global Expo, and Seatrade Europe effective February 1, 2023. He takes over from Claus Ulrich Selbach who remains committed to the maritime industry as Business Unit Director.Christoph Lücke (37) has been on the SMM team as Project Manager since 2016. His range of responsibilities included acquiring and supporting national and international customers.
