A study performed by the American stainless-steel manufacturer ATI titled “Evaluation of Alloys for Marine Exhaust Scrubbers – Effect of Welding and a Crevice” confirmed the importance of correct material choice for scrubbers.

Odfjell Adds Navig8 Chemical Tankers

Navig8 Chemical Tankers, an international shipping company focused on the transportation of chemicals,  has agreed to enter four of its 25,000-dwt chemical tankers into a pool operated by the Norwegian tanker owner and operator Odfjell.Following the delivery of the vessels, the 'Chempool25' will total 19 vessels with Odfjell contributing with ten vessels, CTG five vessels and N8CTI four vessels. 18 Meter Fire-Floats for Bangladesh

Robert Allan Ltd. has delivered a design of two unique fire-floats to Khulna Shipyard Ltd in Bangladesh. The boats will measure 18.9 m x 5.3 m with a special hard chine semi-displacement hull designed for river service and fitted with twin open style skegs for debris protection. The all aluminum hulls will be powered by two 560 kW 6135SFM85 John Deere main engines for a speed of 20 knots. Reduction gears will be Reintjes WAF 244 with 2.5:1 reduction ratio driving stainless steel shafts and bronze propellers.

Fincantieri Cuts Steel on New Cunard Ship

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has cut the first steel  for British–American cruise line Cunard’s newest ship to start construction on the 249th ship of the luxury cruise line, marking an exciting moment in the company’s 179-year history. Aker Arctic Wins Finnish Navy Supply Deal

The Finnish Defense Forces Logistics Command and Aker Arctic Technology Inc. recently signed a contract for the design, delivery and integration of complete propulsion lines to four Pohjanmaa-class multi-role corvettes for the Finnish Navy. Construction of the vessels is scheduled to begin in 2022 and the four-strong squadron will achieve operational readiness in 2028.Aker Arctic’s scope of delivery includes ice-strengthened controllable pitch propellers and their pitch control mechanisms, propeller shafts, bearings and shaft seals.

Chart Wins Order for Marine LNG Fueling Tanks

Chart Industries, the maker of equipment for the liquefied natural gas and industrial gas industries, has been awarded a contract by LGM Engineering to supply four LNG fuel tanks.The fuel tanks, supplied by Chart, will power two 22 dead weight tonne (dwt) chemical tankers with clean burning natural gas. Seabulk Completes First Methanol Shipment

Seabulk Tankers, a subsidiary of SEACOR Holdings, has announced the successful delivery of its first methanol parcel chemical shipment aboard the articulated tug-barge (“ATB”) Sea-Power/Sea-Chem I.The Sea-Power/Sea-Chem I loaded a 10,500 metric ton methanol parcel in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and discharged the parcel in Charleston, South Carolina and Chesapeake, Virginia.
