Shipping Confidence Continues to Climb -Report
A recent survey found that shipping confidence reached its highest rating in the past three years in the three months to end-August 2017. According to the latest Shipping Confidence Survey from international accountant and shipping adviser Moore Stephens, the average confidence level expressed by respondents to the survey was up slightly from the 6.1 out of 10 recorded in the previous survey in May 2017 to a three-year high of 6.2.

Great Lakes/Seaway Iron Ore Trade Rises in August
Shipments of iron ore on the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway totaled 6.7 million tons in August, an increase of 10.1 percent compared to a year ago, according to latest figures from the Lake Carriers’ Association (LCA). Shipments also bettered the month’s five-year average by 6.2 percent. LCA said shipments from U.S. Great Lakes ports totaled 6.3 million tons in August, an increase of 18 percent compared to a year ago.
