CLdN Acquires Seatruck Ferries from Clipper Group
European RoRo ferry operator CLdN announced on Tuesday that it has entered into an agreement to acquire all shares in Seatruck Ferries Holding Ltd. from Clipper Group. The transaction price was not disclosed.The deal is subject to regulatory approval from the Irish competition authorities, expected before year-end, CLdN said.With eight vessels, Irish Sea operator Seatruck Ferries transports close to 20% of the region’s seaborne cargo volumes.

Singapore-listed firm Marco Polo Marine said Tuesday it planned to build, own and operate a new Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) to meet the rising demand for support vessels required to service the booming offshore wind farm industry in Asia. Nobiskrug inks deal an 83-m Superyacht PROJECT ORKAN
Nobiskrug signed a new build contract with superyacht brokerage Burgess, along with Harrison Eidsgaard Design, to design and build a six deck 83-m superyacht. Dubbed PROJECT ORKAN the styling comes from the strong trio Harrison Eidsgaard studio, based in London. The vessel will feature a hybrid propulsion system including batteries in order to significantly reduce fuel consumption as well as electronic anchoring to protect sensitive areas.
Norway's METCentre Licensed to Test Four New Offshore Wind Turbines
The Marine Energy Test Center (METCentre) in Norway has been licensed to test four new offshore wind turbines on the Norwegian west coast. Arvid Nesse, head of METCentre and Norwegian Offshore Wind, said: "This expansion strengthens Norway's position as an international pioneer in floating offshore wind,"The world's first floating offshore wind turbine was tested at the METCentre in 2009, and last year the Danish-developed TetraSpar turbine arrived at the center for testing, too.
Cal Maritime Names Golden Bear's First Female Captain
California State University Maritime Academy appointed Samaro Bannister-Schneider as interim captain of Training Ship Golden Bear (TSGB). Captain Bannister will serve as Cal Maritime’s first female TSGB captain. She is a 2000 graduate of Cal Maritime’s Marine Transportation (MT) program, and began her career on a fleet of Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) research vessels conducting survey operations.
Damen Working on New Vessel Class to Support Growing Floating Wind Industry
Dutch firm Damen Shipyards said Tuesday it was working to develop a new class of vessel that will be capable of supporting the growing floating wind industry.Damen has cited forecasts which indicate that by 2050 over 200GW or around 13,500 units of new floating offshore wind turbines will be in operation, and these turbines will be giant, and placed in deeper water than conventional bottom-fixed turbines, requiring chains and anchors of unprecedented sizes.
Italy's Commissioner Confident in a Timely Decision on New FSRU
