Accompanied by azure blue skies and a stiff breeze, the Navy christened and launched its newest oceanographic survey ship, USNS Maury (T-AGS 66), the last of its class at VT Halter Marine’s shipyard in Moss Point, Miss., in a traditional Navy ceremony on March 27. Damen Contracted for DAFF Fleet Maintenance and Repair
The South African Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) assigned Damen Shipyards Cape Town (DSCT, part of Damen Shipyards Group) to get its fleet of Fisheries Research Vessels and Fisheries Protection and Surveillance Vessels operational as soon as possible. The scope of work includes repair works and ongoing maintenance. The DAFF Fleet currently consists of six vessels, including the 83m Offshore Patrol Vessel ‘Sarah Baartman’ and the 78m Research Vessel ‘Africana’.
