Teekay's Randgrid is currently undergoing a major conversion into a floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel with work that includes the installation of an internal turret mooring system. Oslo-based Miko Marine said it has delivered four unique magnetic sea chest blanks for use during the conversion work at the Sembawang dockyard in Singapore. The Miko closures are now on site and ready to be used to create safe conditions for technicians working inside the vessel's sea chests.
Baltic Index Rises as Panamax Rates Hits High
The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index, tracking rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, rose on Wednesday as panamax rates surged to their highest in over three years and capesize activity firmed up. The overall index, which factors in rates for capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize shipping vessels, rose for the fourth straight session. The index was up 20 points, or 1.58 percent, at 1,282 points. The panamax index hit its highest since January 2014.

Dual-fuel Solution to Drive World's Mightiest Cutter Dredger
Wärtsilä said it has been contracted to supply a comprehensive package of engines and propulsion machinery for a new cutter suction dredger (CSD) vessel slated to become the world's most powerful and first ever to be fuelled by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The newbuild, Spartacus, is being built at the Royal IHC yard in the Netherlands on behalf of Belgium based Dredging International (DEME). The order with Wärtsilä, worth around $21 million, was booked in the fourth quarter of 2016.
