U.S.-based Advanced Polymer Coatings (APC) has signed a major multi-ship deal to recoat ten tankers with Turkish ship management firm Chemfleet.The deal was signed at Chemfleet’s Istanbul office by APC’s global marine manager, captain Onur Yildirim, and its Turkey marine manager captain Koray Karagoz. Yildirim Promoted to Marine Manager at APC
Advanced Polymer Coatings (APC), based here, has elevated Captain Onur Yildirim to the newly created position of Marine Manager. In his new role, Captain Yildirim will manage the company’s marine coatings operation globally including sales, technical, and after-sales service, working closely with APC senior management. Prior to this role, he held a number of positions at APC, most recently from 2012 to 2018 as Global Technical Manager, overseeing the global technical team including after-sales service. Turkish Shipyards Boost for MarineLine
Following Advanced Polymer Coatings’ announcement earlier in the year of its first two chemical tanker coatings contracts won in Turkey, the anticorrosion specialist has just announced a number of further new business gains and opportunities in this developing shipbuilding country. It has also reported gains in other markets. APC’s unique polymer-based tank protection system MarineLine has now been specified for the cargo tanks of 10 more ships to be constructed or converted in Turkey. These range in size from two 1,450 dwt chemical tankers for Holland’s Unifleet NV, to be constructed by the RMK Marine shipyard, to two 29,990 dwt chemical tankers from UM Shipyard for Fairfield Chemical Tankers of the USA.
APC Secure Contracts
Ohio-based Advanced Polymer Coatings LLC (APC announced recent cargo tank coating contracts secured for this year and 2003 worth more than $11.0 million. In addition, a further $14.0 million-worth of its technologically advanced polymer coating MarineLINE has been specified for the tanks of more than 25 newbuildings planned for construction over the next three years. The firm orders cover 20 new construction and in-service vessels for a range of chemical and product tanker owners and operators, including Fortnum/Neste of Finland; Simonsen and the Clipper Group of Denmark; Unifleet, Laurann Shipping and the Clearwater Group of Holland; Fairfield Chemical Tankers of the U.S.; Fatoglu of Turkey, and IMC Shipping of Singapore.
