Stoody Debuts Technical Services Hotline

Stoody, an ESAB brand, has recently launched the new Stoody Tech Services (STS) hotline to provide a valuable resource to distributors and applicators seeking answers about product selection and the application of hardfacing and high alloy joining consumables. The new STS hotline will be attended by recently promoted Jonathan Cropper, Technical and Applications Specialist for the Stoody brand. With an accomplished background as a welding fabricator, Cropper joined Stoody in 2008 and has spent the past five years as a research and development welder. In this former role, he worked closely with product engineering, manufacturing, quality, and sales team members with responsibilities including product testing, weld analysis, and end user field support. ESAB Introduces New Portable Power Source

Florence, S.C. – ESAB Welding & Cutting Products has introduced the new MiniArc® 161LTS power source. Weighing only 18 pounds, the MiniArc® 161 is a portable, 115 or 230 V, single-phase machine which provides results for TIG and stick welding. The Automatic Primary Select function configures to the primary input supplied. When welding in DC mode, the MiniArc® 161 ranges from 5 to 160 amps. The MiniArc® 161 features a fixed hot start function, which allows the operator to strike an arc without the electrode sticking to the plate.

Wärtsilä Appoints Rosengren President and CEO

Wärtsilä's Board of Directors has appointed Mr Björn Rosengren M.Sc. (Tech.), born 1959, as the new President and CEO of Wärtsilä Corporation. He will assume the position on 1 September 2011, succeeding Mr Ole Johansson, who will retire. Currently Mr Rosengren works as Senior Executive Vice President Atlas Copco AB and as Business Area President for Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Technique, and is based in Shanghai, China. Mr Rosengren has held several management positions in the Swedish industrial group Atlas Copco since 1998.
