Edda Wind Orders Four CSOVs from Fincantieri's Vard

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, through its subsidiary Vard, has signed a contract with offshore wind vessel operator Edda Wind, for the construction of four Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOV). The first two vessels are expected to be delivered in Q1 2025, the third in Q2 2025, and the fourth in Q1 2026. Edda Wind Orders Another CSOV from Gondan

Norwegian offshore wind service vessel firm Edda Wind has ordered another commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) from Gondan Shipbuilders, in Spain.The newbuild will be of Salt 0474 design, which is a further development of the Salt 0217 design and will be delivered in April 2025. In addition, the company has an option with the yard for one more vessel.Including the latest newbuild, Edda Wind will have a fleet of 10 purpose-built vessels, of which six are currently under contract.

DNV has signed a classification contract with offshore wind vessel owner Edda Wind for two new Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs). DNV GL Unveils New Emissions Reduction Notation

As the shipping industry continues its push to reduce emissions to air, classification society DNV GL announced a new class notation for exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS). The new notation, emissions reduction (ER), will cover not only scrubbers for removing SOx, but selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems for removing NOx. ABS Updates Advisory Ahead of 2020 Global Sulfur Cap

ABS said it has updated the ABS Advisory on Exhaust Gas Scrubber Systems (Scrubber Advisory) to help industry prepare for IMO’s 2020 global sulfur cap. Central to the impending 2020 global sulfur cap are requirements to reduce the sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions from ships. Installation of exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS), commonly referred to as scrubbers, is a potential solution for owners looking to comply with the upcoming requirements. MAN Diesel and Turbo to Power Giant Crane Vessel

MAN Diesel & Turbo has signed a contract with Sembcorp Marine in Singapore to supply the dual-fuel propulsion system – including exhaust-gas after-treatment – for a New Semi-submersible Crane Vessel (NSCV) for Heerema Offshore Services. The scope of the contract – signed on 30 October, 2015 – provides for 12 × MAN 8L51/60DF four-stroke engines + 12 × MAN SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) systems. MAN Diesel & Turbo states that the total power output of the engines is some 96 MW and believes it – with the exception of power barges – to be one of the largest engine installations the world has ever seen aboard a single ship. Certainly, it is the first vessel of this size to feature dualfuel technology and, upon completion, will be the largest vessel of its kind globally.

Since fitting the first LEMAG SLASHPOL E-WIF FQI (fuel quality improver) homogenizer on the Stena Carrier over five years ago, Stena has fitted a total of 16 of its vessels with LEMAG WIF homogenizers. Feedback from a number of the Stena vessels has confirmed that in addition to reduced fuel consumption; there is also a reduction in black smoke during start-up and maneuvering, as well as at full load. It was noted on the vessels that operate with SCR NOx reduction systems that as the exhaust temperature was reduced by more than 10°C the WIF allowed the chief engineer to fine tune the system…
