HMAS Warramunga transited the Sunda Strait on Remembrance Day, where Australian light cruiser HMAS Perth I was lost in 1942.. Ship’s company fell silent to reflect on the loss and the sound of the engines and the crashing of the waves could be heard. Commanding Officer Warramunga, Commander Dugald Clelland led the at sea commemoration. “We are within 17 nautical miles of where HMAS Perth I, was lost and 375 of her 680 strong crew,” he said.

Gulf of Aden (East Coast of Africa), Malacca Strait and West Coast of Africa are shipping routes which suffer incidents of pirate attacks. (i) Guidelines for anti-piracy measures issued through Merchant Shipping Notice No.1 of 2011 dated 14.1.2011 to be implemented by Indian Ships. The guidelines provide for elaborate anti-piracy measures (Best Management Practices), including safe house/citadel for vessels.
India Identifies 12 Major Ports Under Sagarmala for Future Cargo Handling
Port Master Plans for 12 major ports have been prepared keeping in view the requirements for cargo handling till 2035. A total of 142 Port Modernization and 30 Port Connectivity projects have been identified in the Master Plans. The objectives of these projects are to promote port led development and to provide infrastructure to transport goods to and from ports quickly, efficiently and cost effectively and efficient evacuation to and from hinterland.
Investigation Report for the Grounding Incident of MV Sea Prince
On 29 November 2015 at about 7.50 pm, the Indonesian registered, Batamfast passenger ferry MV Sea Prince, while enroute from Nongsapura Ferry Terminal, Batam, to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, Singapore, was immobilised at about 0.24 nautical miles (444 metres), northwest of Nongsa. Investigation revealed that the Master of Sea Prince had deviated from his original planned route after leaving the demarcated navigational channel and went aground.
