AIDA Cruises Seeking German Government Aid
Carnival Corp’s AIDA cruise operator is among a list of companies seeking state aid from the German government, the Business Insider website reported on Thursday.AIDA is seeking about half a billion euros ($591 million) in state aid, Business Insider said, citing a government list of companies requesting support, which also includes shipbuilder MV Werften and steel producer Georgsmarienhuette.The finance ministry declined to comment.AIDA is examining whether financing schemes offered by the government are suitable for the company, a spokesman said, adding he was not aware of any considerations

AIDA Cruises Extends Operational Pause Through August
Carnival Corp announced Thursday its AIDA Cruises brand has extended its global pause on operations through the end of August due to health concerns surrounding the conronavirus pandemic."Given the gradual easing in intra-European travel, AIDA Cruises believes it will resume its cruise operation later this summer. Stockholm Expects 290 Cruise Liners in 2020
Ports of Stockholm said that 2020 cruise season is expected to be another record year in terms of passenger numbers and almost 290 cruise calls, with as many as 13 maiden visits.The Baltic Sea cruise port said that the list of the 2020 season’s cruise ship calls has been published and presents no fewer than 13 vessels calling at Ports of Stockholm for the first time.The international cruise ship season begins on 17th April at the Port of Nynäshamn with the arrival of the vessel Magellan, and on 26th April in Stockholm with the arrival of the Viking Star.
