Fratelli Cosulich Expands with Dublin Freight Office
Multi-faceted shipping group Fratelli Cosulich has expanded its freight forwarding business by opening an office in Dublin, Ireland. The move follows fast growth in its freight forwarding and NVOCC operations which operate from bases in Heathrow, Felixstowe, Izmir, Istanbul, New York, Shenzen and now Dublin. Fratelli Cosulich will move freight of all types by road, sea and air and expects its Dublin office to have balanced import and export traffic. Fratelli Cosulich Mourns Loss of Chairman
Callisto Gerolimich Cosulich, chairman of the multi-faceted shipping group Fratelli Cosulich, passed away on September 5, 2007, at the age of 95. Callisto Cosulich had been group chairman since 1977, when he took over from Mario Cosulich, his cousin. He was still quite active in the business, albeit on a reduced scale, attending the Trieste headquarters of the company every day. Callisto Cosulich was a past president of the Trieste Ship Agents’ Association, as well as a member of the board of the Bank of Italy.
Fratelli Cosulich Develops Bunker Chain
Fratelli Cosulich has taken a further step in its strategy to become a fully fledged physical bunker supplier controlling the whole chain by taking delivery of the third of its new high capacity bunker tankers. The 6,500 dwt Emma Cosulich was delivered last week from China's Sopo shipyard at Zhengjiang and follows two similar vessels, the Maria Cosulich and the Teresa Cosulich, which are currently operating in the port of Singapore as bunker barges. Investment in the barges was the first step in extending control of the bunker chain. Currently Fratelli Cosulich is negotiating storage facilities in Singapore and plans to buy full cargoes of bunker fuel from Middle East producers.

Fratelli Cosulich has appointed a new managing director to take forward its Zurich-based cruise and ferry travel agency business, Cosulich Ltd. Stefan Spiess takes over as managing director from Detlev Bandi, who retires after 26 years with the travel agency. After receiving his diploma in economics in Baden and studying law in Fribourg, Spiess began work in tourism fifteen years ago. He has experience in the fields of tour operating, destination marketing, tourism writing and sales of tourism goods.

IBIA Appoints New Directors
Following an election, the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) has appointed Robin Meech (Marine and Energy Consulting) and Ciric Cheung (Fratelli Cosulich Bunkers HK) to its board from 1 April 2012. They replace previous IBIA chairman Mike Ball (Gearbulk UK) and Mustafa Muhtaroglu (Energy Petrol) who have served seven and nine year terms of office respectively. Trevor Harrison was re-elected to serve another term. The announcement was made at the IBIA Annual Dinner in London by Vice Chairman Nigel Draffin who, as previously announced, becomes Chairman on 1 April.

Damen Workboats for Fratelli Neri Fleet Expansion
Italian towing company Fratelli Neri S.p.A. has expanded its fleet with the delivery of three new Damen workboats. The trio of vessels will be based in the company’s home port of Livorno, on the Tuscan coast. Damen delivered all the vessels from stock;completing the final outfitting works within a timescale of three and a half months. This current delivery to Fratelli Neri consists of three different vessels. The first, an ASD 2913, was built at Damen Shipyards Galati. This vessel sailed from Romania to Italy on her own keel.
Rolls-Royce Wins Italian OSV Contract
Rolls-Royce announced an £11million order to design and equip two offshore service vessels for Italian ship owner Fratelli D’Amato.These UT 755 XL vessels will carry out operations in the offshore oil and gas sector and will be built at the Rosetti Marino S.p.A shipyard in Italy. The order includes an integrated system of Rolls-Royce equipment including thrusters for manoeuvring, rudders, propellers, deck machinery and a bulk handling system for the safe loading of fluids and solid cargo. The vessels are due to be delivered by the end of 2013. Oil Spill Update: Sabotage Ruled Out
Italy's Fratelli D'Amato SpA -- owners of a tanker that leaked 80,000 liters of oil into Sydney Harbor, reportedly have ruled out sabotage as an explanation of how oil leaked from manually-operated valves. The spill on Tuesday night was the worst in Sydney Harbor for 10 to 20 years. Two valves on the side of the 96,000 dwt Laura D'Amato, which reportedly had were externally sealed by surveyors when the ship was loaded, were open and caused the oil spill.
Mitsui Delivers Double Hull Tanker
On September 12, Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. completed and a 110,000 dwt type double hull tanker MV Mare Italicum which had been under construction in Chiba Works of MES, to her owner Fratelli d’Amico Armatori S.p.A., Italy. This is the 4th ship of newly designed Aframax type tanker by MES.
First Damen Tug for Fratelli Neri
Fratelli Neri S.p.A has taken delivery of a Damen ASD Tug 3212. The new vessel, called Luisa Neri, was handed over from Damen Maaskant Shipyards Stellendam in the Netherlands, on 25 January 2016. The vessel represents two firsts: it is Fratelli Neri’s first Damen newbuild tug and it is the first ASD Tug in the Mediterranean with a Damen render-recovery winch. Damen is renowned for its quick delivery times and this contract further reinforces that fact: the smooth process from contract to delivery taking just 5 months.
Fratelli Neri S.p.A. Orders Three Damen Vessels
Fratelli Neri S.p.A., the family-owned, Livorno-based harbor towage company, has ordered three new Damen vessels; an ASD Tug 2913, a Stan Tug 1606 and a Stan Launch 1305, the last for its subsidiary company Labromare, which is 50% owned by Tripmare S.p.A. All three vessels will operate in and around the port of Livorno, one of the busiest in the Mediterranean Sea. Delivery will take place in November this year. This order takes to six the number of Damen vessels ordered by Fratelli Neri in the past year.
Fratelli Neri Orders Damen Tug
One of the largest Italian tug owners, Fratelli Neri S.p.A, ordered its first Damen tug, an ASD 3212, on 21 July 2015. The vessel will be the first ASD tug in the Mediterranean region with a Damen Render Recovery Escort winch. The family-owned, Livorno-based harbour towage company has been in operation for over 100 years. Besides this new tug, the company has ordered two additional second-hand Stan tugs 2608 from Damen Trading. “Damen’s well-known high quality construction and reliability, as well as fast delivery times, were the main reasons behind our decision to place this order.
Stena Bulk, Sonangol Suezmax Pool Reinforced
Stena Bulk and the Angolan oil company Sonangol strengthen the Stena Sonangol Suezmax Pool with the addition of a further two ultramodern tankers. “These tankers will be added to the pool, which is fully controlled by Stena Bulk and Sonangol. The pool now has a total of 18 tankers and there will be 30 tankers at mid 2012 as our ultramodern newbuildings continue to be delivered,” said Ulf G. Ryder, CEO and President of Stena Bulk. The M/T Mare Doricum was added to the pool in January 2011, followed by M/T Mare Picenum in February. Both these 158,000 dwt Suezmax tankers were built at Samsung Shipyard in South Korea in 2009. Their owner is the well-reputed Italian shipping company Fratelli d’Amico Amatori, which owns and operates a fleet of 11 crude oil tankers.
GE to Power Offshore Platform Supply Vessels
GE Marine announces that it will supply IML Power, , with eight V228 medium-speed diesel engines. The 16-cylinder engines will power four new, UT755L-type offshore platform supply vessels. IML Power is an authorized distributor of GE diesel engines and services in . The vessels will be constructed by Rosetti Marino S.p.A. Each of the four new ships will be powered by two 16V228 engines, each rated at 2790 kilowatts (kW) at 955 rpm. The engines will be manufactured at GE’s state-of-the-art , facility.
Sperry Marine to Supply Navigation Systems for New Tankers
Northrop Grumman Corporation’s Sperry Marine has received orders to supply navigation and bridge systems for 12 new tankers to be built for Italian ship owners at shipyards in South Korea and China. The value of the contract was not disclosed. The ships include four 46,000 dead-weight tons (dwt) product tankers for D'Amico Soc Di Nav, six 51,000 dwt product tankers for Pietro Barbaro SpA at the STX Shipbuilding Co. in Chinhae, South Korea, and two 74,500 dwt product tankers for Fratelli D'Amato SpA at the New Century Shipbuilding Co. in Jianjiang, China. The new ships are scheduled for delivery by Northrop Grumman's Sperry Marine business unit over the next two years.
