Marlink's ā‚¬622m Dividend Recapitalization Loan Pulled

A ā‚¬622m-equivalent dividend recapitalization and refinancing loan for Norwegian satellite navigation group Marlink has been withdrawn from the market, sources familiar with the situation said.The leveraged loan for Marlink, which is owed by private equity firm Apax Partners, has run into the turbulence that has hit the European market in the last month, as investors call for better terms and conditions.A combination of increased dealflow and poor secondary trading levels on loans signed earlier this year is helping investors to push for higher pricing and stronger documentation."Several deals have struggled recently. Marlink Expands VSAT Coverage in the Indian Ocean

Marlink has added a new satellite to its global multi-band Sealink network, expanding its footprint in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and introducing even more Ku-band VSAT capacity to enable high-speed broadband connectivity for ships transiting southern routes between Asia and Africa, in addition to fishing vessels operating east of Africaā€™s coastline and out towards the Maldives and Seychelles. The new capacity comes from a satellite positioned in geostationary orbit at a longitude of 110° East.

Marlink Doubles the Speed for Sealink VSAT Customers

Marlink customers using the Sealink Allowances maritime VSAT service plans can now enjoy without any extra-charge a burst rate, or Maximum Information Rate (MIR), up to 6 Mbps. Providing even faster connectivity and more bandwidth for business operations and crew onboard when network capacity is available, the new MIR is twice as fast as the previous 3 Mbps. Doubling the throughput while keeping pricing unchanged will deliver even more value for money to Marlinkā€™s maritime customers.

Marlink Expands in Japan

Satellite communication provider Marlink said its Tokyo office has relocated to new, larger premises as the company grows its Japan team to meet the needs of an expanding VSAT customer-base in the region. ā€œThe new location is over twice the size, which helps us to accommodate more field engineers, technical support and sales staff, in addition to enabling us to build a new service management function for better coordination and smoother operations towards the customer,ā€ said Shinobu Suzuki, Marlink Japan.

De Poli Tankers Extends VSAT Deal with Marlink

Dutch ship owner De Poli Tankers BV has extended its contract with Marlink, securing high-bandwidth global communication using the Sealink Plus service for its fleet of eight chemical tankers and two gas tankers. De Poli Tankers' in-house ITC company, Maritime Performances BV, chose to retain the Sealink Plus service for the future as it combines high-bandwidth VSAT with unlimited L-band back-up in a single easy to manage bundle, Marlink said. Marlink Acquires Radio Holland's Connectivity Business

Marlink and Radio Holland have concluded a partnership agreement whereby Marlink has acquired Radio Hollandā€™s connectivity business. According to the partners, the deal strengthens Marlinkā€™s position in maritime VSAT, while Radio Holland will be the preferred global sales and service partner offering Marlinkā€™s satcom connectivity portfolio in combination with its maritime electronics solutions. Furthermore, Radio Holland and the Marlink Group, including Telemar, will intensify their existing cooperation in NavCom sales and servicing.

Marlink Buys Majority Stake in OmniAccess

Apax Partners backed Marlink said it has signed a definite agreement to acquire a majority stake in fellow maritime VSAT services firm OmniAccess. The transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approval and closing is expected in the first half of 2018. OmniAccessā€™ existing management team will remain unchanged and continue to keep a significant shareholding in the company. OmniAccess will remain a stand-alone company, functioning as the competence center for broadband connectivity solutions for the high-end superyacht and boutique cruise-line customers.

Marlink Delivers Fleet Xpress on Antarctic Support Vessel

Marlink said it has migrated Aker BioMarineā€™s Antarctic krill harvester fleet support ship, La Manche, to Inmarsatā€™s Fleet Xpress service. The system provides a boost to crew communication facilities on board as well as enables vessels to benefit from improved business intelligence and remote access to the vesselā€™s IT network. The service uses the XChange Universal Remote Access (URA) solution, one of Marlinkā€™s many Value Added Services available on Fleet Xpress. ā€œFleet Xpress has transformed our communication capabilities aboard La Manche.

Marlink has re-launched its Sealink C-band VSAT service, this time introducing new price and service plans, enabling easier integration with existing and future Ka and Ku-band VSAT services. According to Marlink, the upgrade gives Sealink C-band VSAT users more flexibility to add alternative VSAT frequencies to their network in order to ensure availability of high-speed critical business and operational applications globally. The new Sealink C-band provides customers with a transparent and cost-efficient way of integrating existing C-band services with flexible Ka and Ku-band VSAT.
