Aussie Pumps Releases New Bronze Pump

Australian Pump Industries (Aussie Pumps) has launched a 4-inch NiAl bronze self-priming pump with hydraulic drive.The new pump, called the B4XRA/B HYD34, produces 2,200 lpm and can operate at up to 42psi. It can also lift water through a vertical suction lift of 6m.Aussie Pumps Chief Engineer John Hales said: “The pumps self-prime. You can see from the big tank that’s designed into the body. When the product is properly primed it will have no trouble fulfilling its suction responsibilities in any installation.”“Most vessels today have hydraulic capabilities.

Svanehøj Bags Fuel Pump Order for 15 LNG Dual-fuel Containerships

Danish marine pump specialist Svanehøj announced it secured a new order from Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding to deliver fuel pump systems for a series of 15 newbuild 7,000 TEU dual-fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG) container vessels.The total of 30 deepwell fuel pumps will be delivered from August 2022 to January 2024, Svanehøj said, noting the order ranks among its largest relating to LNG fuel to date.The deal marks the second time within the last year that this customer has chosen Svanehøj as the supplier of LNG fuel pump systems.

Svanehøj Bags Fuel Pump Orders for 22 LNG-powered ULCVs

Svanehøj announced its 'breakthrough' in the containership market with an order for deepwell gas fuel pumps for 22 ultra large container vessels (ULVC) from South Korean shipyards Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI).Svanehøj’s scope for each vessel consists of two EFP 24-5 liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel pumps (22 m.) with caisson, foot valves and control systems, and the company's deepwell fuel pumps operate on long enough service intervals which allows for only two pumps per ship instead of the usual three.

While the maritime industry steams toward alternative and dual fuel solutions, much of the focus, rightfully so, remains on the main movers as well as the overall vessel design and logistics considerations. Here we look at the SERO PumpSystems’ SHPmarine side channel pump, a pump integrated into the “Secondary Fuel Supply Systems” (SFSS) of hybrid ship propulsion units pumping LPG (propane) to the main shipboard engine. According to the manufacturer, it is the first pump of its kind to be both Lloyd's Register accepted and DNV GL type approved for maritime dual fuel propulsion systems.

Keppel Orders PG Flow Solutions for Gimmi FLNG

Singaporebased Keppel Shipyard has awarded Norwegian liquid handling and pump specialist PG Flow Solutions a contract to supply high flow seawater pumps to the Gimi FLNG that is being converted at the yard.PG Flow Solutions will deliver four large seawater pumps, each with a capacity of 5,500 cubic metres of water per hour. CEMEX Dredge Pump e-Motor Passes Test

The Marine Aggregate Dredger CEMEX Go Innovation, currently under construction for CEMEX Marine UK, is fitted out with a submersed dredge pump. This dredge pump is directly driven by an electric motor – and not an arbitrary one.As a first, the dredge pump drive is a permanent magnet 1,400 kW unit, that last week it underwent a large array of tests – passing them all effortlessly.The hopper dredger is designed for mining marine aggregates at -55 m below sea level. The submersed Damen dredge pump is directly driven by a continuous electric motor – that is, without a gear box in between.Moreover, the electric motor forms an integral part of the trailing pipe structure. But the story does not end there: the air filled e-motor is of the Permanent Magnet type.
