Fotland Named COO at Odfjell

Odfjell SE has appointed Harald Fotland as chief operations officer (COO), effective January 5, 2018. The Norwegian tanker shipping firm said it is introducing a COO function to ensure full integration between ship management and commercial operations. “With the new structure, Odfjell Tankers will have common and aligned goals across all functions relating to chemical tankers,” the company said. Fotland joined Odfjell as chief of staff in 2010, and in 2015 was appointed senior vice president of Odfjell Tankers.

Wilhelmsen Relocates to Singapore

Wilhelmsen Ship Management (WSM) will be relocating its global headquarters from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Singapore within the first quarter of 2018. The relocation decision is part of WSM’s strategic initiatives to be nearer to current clients and also future market. Singapore is an established maritime hub, and a driver of digital innovation that will play a significant part in the company’s ongoing transformation. At the moment, only a few selected key personnel in the management team will be relocated.

Schulte Group Buys LNG Specialist PRONAV

Hamburg shipowning and management group Bernhard Schulte has signed a contract for the acquisition of 100% of the shares in the prestigious LNG ship manager PRONAV - subject to merger approval of the German Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt). The worldwide operating Schulte Group owns about 100 vessels (mainly container, tanker, bulker) and manages 600 vessels in all segments. PRONAV, based in Hamburg, is an internationally renowned ship manager specialized in large LNG tonnage.

Wagh Joins BSM India as Dy MD

Bibby Ship Management welcomed Sanjiv Wagh as Deputy Managing Director of its India offices. With over 30 year’s industry experience, Mr Wagh joins Bibby Ship Management from Kongsberg where he was General Sales Manager for Kongsberg Maritime India. During his time with Kongsberg, he occupied a number of roles covering research and development, ship simulation and analytics. Mr Wagh joins Bibby Ship Management India handling the support functions and other operational areas within each local business.

Wilhelmsen Ship Mngmt Sells ITM to V.Ships

Wilhelmsen Ship Management (WSM) sold its affiliated company International Tanker Management (ITM) to V.Ships. International Tanker Management is based in Dubai, with offices in Hamburg, Germany, Singapore, and Houston, USA. ITM has approximately 45 vessels on technical management, from VLCCs to chemical tankers. The company was founded in 1998 as an affiliated company of Wilhelmsen Ship Management (formerly Barber Ship Management).   EC Hambro Rabben & Partners acted as corporate finance advisor to Wilhelmsen Ship Management in this sale process.

Five More Tankers under Crowley Management

Crowley Accord Management Pvt. Ltd., the international ship management venture managed globally by Crowley Maritime Corp.’s ship management group, was awarded full technical management contracts for five new tankers. These tankers will be joined in the coming weeks by three more, bringing Crowley’s international ship management fleet to more than 70. The five products tankers brought under Crowley Accord management are the MT Dawn Haridwar, MT Dawn Mansarovar, MT Dawn Mathura, MT Dawn Madurai and MT Portland Pearl.

Hong Kong Ship Managers Wallem Set Up Singapore Unit

Growth in specialist ship management services leads HK-based Wallem Group to open its first ship management & broking operation in Singapore. The move into Singapore comes six months after Wallem formed a ship management joint venture with mainland shipowner Nanjing Tanker in Singapore, reports the 'South China Morning Post). Captain Deepak Honawar, a director of Wallem Shipmanagement, considered that launching in Singapore would provide more space for the company to grow its Hong Kong ship management business. As a result, it was likely some of the ships currently managed from Hong Kong, along with technical staff, will be transferred to the Singapore operation, which will make room in HK for expansion.

Marine and offshore vessel management and support services provider V.Group said it has acquired Graig Ship Management Ltd, part of Graig Shipping PLC, which has developed a reputation for new build supervision and ship management of dry bulk vessels. This reputation, which has its roots as part of Graig Shipping PLC’s 100 year history and is supported by a global maritime workforce, has grown steadily over the past 25 years. Graig Ship Management will continue to operate independently within the V.Group portfolio.

Höegh, Wallem Sign Ship Management Deal

Höegh Autoliners signed a nine vessel ship management deal with Wallem Ship Management yesterday at the Höegh headquarters in Oslo, Norway. The ship management agreement cements a deal between the companies, with Wallem delivering technical and crew management to nine PCTCs from its Singapore base. Wallem broadened its ship management business to Singapore in 2013, complementing the company’s existing ship agency services in the city state, providing an attractive option for ship owners looking for access to Singapore’s maritime business advantages.

Bibby Ship Management Expands

Wilson Ship Management, WSS Signs Service Fleet Agreement

Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) finalized a five-year Safety Service Fleet Agreement with Wilson Ship Management (WSM), sealing the deal last week in Oslo at Norshipping. Wilson Ship Management has been testing WSS’s new Safety Service Concept over the last 12 months. “In today’s market, we are continually looking for ways in which we can keep costs under control," said Heine Olsen, Fleet Manager at Wilson Ship Management . The contract with Norwegian-based WSM is the first of its kind for WSS. “This agreement is a result of successful team work between ourselves and Wilson Ship Management.

ISO Certification for MOL Ship Management Company

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd., today announced that its group ship management company for dry bulkers, Magsaysay MOL Ship Management, Inc. has acquired certifications from Nihon Kaiji Kyokai, for Energy Management Systems (ISO50001*1) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001*2) on June 18. MMSM’s certifications cover ship management of bulk carriers and other cargo ships, as well as office operations onshore. MOL Ship Management Co., Ltd. acquired the same certificates in July 2014, followed by MOL Ship Management (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. and New Asian Shipping Company Ltd.

New Crewing Software for HAV Ship Management

CrewInspector.com an online crew management software provider wins the contract to provide HAV Ship Management Kaliningrad with full crew management solution. CrewInspector will provide online crew management database, integrated online application for seafarers and crew payroll software. Crew management system enables crew managers to create seafarer employment contracts, monitor certificate expiry and organize crew planning across the whole fleet thus reducing manual work. Based on crew employment contracts, payrolling module helps calculating crew wages and respective deductions. HAV Ship Management Kaliningrad will use CrewInspector to manage crew for 26 dry-cargo ships classified by Germanischer Lloyd which under management of the company. The ships carry bulk and general cargoes.

Bibby Tops IoM Ship Management

Bibby Ship Management is once again the largest representative for vessels flying the Isle of Man flag in providing representative services for 30% of vessel tonnage registered on the island. This compares with 25% in 2014, according to official statistics. The Isle of Man Ship Registry’s total merchant vessel fleet stands at 407, equating to 14.95m gross tons. From these vessels, Bibby Ship Management has increased its portfolio to 90, an increase of 10 vessels from November 2015.

Crowley Acquires Ship Management Company

Crowley Maritime Corporation announced today that it has acquired majority ownership of Accord Ship Management (HK) Limited and Accord Marine Management Pvt. Ltd. The Accord acquisition will be managed by Crowley’s ship management group, which provides all phases of commercial ship management along with full technical management and government contracting. It will immediately increase the size and scope of Crowley’s technical ship management group while supporting the company’s expansion into the international ship management market with a foreign crewing presence. The acquisition also makes Crowley a rare U.S. company - one that provides third-party international crewing and technical ship management.
