Simrad Opens New Sales and Service Facility
Simrad U.K. has opened a new sales and service facility in Mylor Harbour, near Falmouth, Cornwall. England. The facility will serve the local fishing, commercial and leisure marine communities in this busy area of activity for Simrad. who use Simrad electronic equipment for professional and leisure purposes. Kongsberg Sells Simrad
Simrad, Inc., a subsidiary of the Kongsberg Group and U.S./Canadian distributor for Simrad marine electronics, announced that Kongsberg has sold the company to Altor, a Nordic investment fund. The sale involved all four European Simrad factories, the holding company Simrad AS and distribution companies in addition to Simrad, Inc. including Simrad AB (Sweden), Simrad GmbH (Germany), Simrad SA (France), Simrad BV (the Netherlands) Simrad Srl (Italy), and Simrad Canada Ltd. “We view this as a very positive development for Simrad, Inc. and the marine electronics industry in North America,” said Brian Staton, President of Simrad, Inc. “This will result in a fresh wave of investment in our important recreational yachting and commercial markets.
Simrad Yacthing Offers Wireless Networking Solution
Simrad Yachting announced the availability of its wireless networking solution, GoFree Wireless. Combining user-friendly mobile software and rugged marine-grade hardware, the GoFree Wireless solution consists of the GoFree Viewer and Control App, and the Simrad WIFI-1 wireless gateway. Enabling wireless connectivity between Simrad NSS Multifunction Displays (MFD) and tablets, mobile phones and computers, GoFree Wireless offers boaters an exciting new level of navigational control.
Simrad and Suzuki Collaborate on Distribution Deal
Simrad U.K. has been appointed as the official distributor of Suzuki Brand products into the U.K. and Ireland. The distribution deal allows Simrad to stock and sell Suzuki Marine products in both markets, greatly expanding the huge choice that Simrad already offers the fishing industry. Suzuki manufactures a range of low-cost searchlight Sonars and Echosounders, which perfectly compliment Simrad’s existing fishing product line. Aimed particularly at smaller trawlers, the Suzuki range is the perfect partner for Simrad, giving customers even more choice than before. Simrad Debuts RS90 VHF Radio
Simrad, designer and manufacturer of marine electronics, has announced its powerful and versatile new modular, black box VHF radio, the RS90. ECDIS Partners with Simrad to Offer Training
UK-based ECDIS training and consultancy company ECDIS Ltd has signed a new agreement with Simrad to provide flag-state approved training on Simrad's CS68 ECDIS software. The agreement has seen the installation of a Simrad terminal in ECDIS Ltd's e-Navigation Center, as well as the ability to provide mobile generic and type-specific training on Simrad ECDIS software. Designed to withstand the roughest conditions at sea, Simrad's CS68 features a shock-mounted central processing unit and a choice of input devices.

SIMRAD took top honors in four categories of the 2002 Product Awards competition conducted by the National Marine Electronics Association at its annual convention in Ft. Simrad Acquires Bennex Holland
Simrad has purchased the Dutch distributor Bennex Holland BV. The sale took place on July 1, 2003 and as of September 2003, Bennex Holland BV becomes Simrad BV. Willem Koopmans assumed the position of General Manager from 21st August 2003, with a staff of 22. Bennex Holland has been the distributor for Simrad products in the BeNeLux region for several years and has developed a strong market position for Simrad in that area. On the retirement of company owner Wil van Druten it was deemed a natural progression for Simrad to acquire the company and integrate it fully into its own sales and service infrastructure.
Simrad Yachting:Yamaha Command Link Plus Integration
Simrad Yachting announced today an agreement with Yamaha to integrate the Command Link plus interface into Simrad systems. The Yamaha Command Link Plus system allows boaters to monitor the performance of up to four amaha outboard engines and critical boat systems on the same screen. The integration gives boaters the capability to monitor that data directly from select Simrad displays. “Our agreement with Yamaha creates another valuable integration option for Simrad customers,” said Leif Ottosson, CEO, Navico.
Simrad Debuts New 27” HD Monitor
The new Simrad M5027 optically bonded HD monitor for the commercial marine market is a 27” marine monitor designed to meet the color calibration requirements of ECDIS systems and the size requirements of 320mm CAT1 radar systems. According to the manufacturer, the Simrad M5027 monitor is built for long term, reliable operation with an optical bonded LCD as standard. Optical bonded displays eliminate the “air gap” issues of condensation, overheating and contamination common in lesser quality displays.
Simrad Launches Type-Approved AIS
Simrad launched an Automatic Identification System (AIS) package at NorShipping. The Type Approved Simrad AI70 is designed to be a compact and user friendly unit which is able to broadcast specific vessel information. The AI70 is also able to receive other vessels broadcast data. SIMRAD Expands West Coast Staff
SIMRAD has expanded its sales team with the addition of Michael Lynn as its Commercial Sales Manager USA West Coast. Lynn will concentrate on working with SIMRAD dealers to facilitate sales to commercial fishing, tug boat, workboat, and coastal transportation customers. “Michael’s considerable experience in marine electronics as well as his superlative communications skills made him the obvious choice for this position,” said Brian Staton, president of SIMRAD Inc. Lynn, 53, brings more than 20 years of experience in the marine electronics industry including positions at Radio Holland, USA (Houston, TX), Raytheon Marine Co.
