Scorpio Tankers Receive Four More Newbuildings
Scorpio Tankers Inc. says it has taken delivery of four newbuilding vessels and agreed to time charter-in an LR2 product tanker that is currently under construction in South Korea. STI Orchard, an LR2 product tanker, was delivered from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering in September 2014. This vessel will begin a voyage for 45 days at approximately $30,000 per day. STI St. Charles, an MR product tanker, was delivered from SPP Shipbuilding of South Korea in September 2014.
Great Lakes Restoration Plan Announced
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) informs that Administrator Gina McCarthy has released a new Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) Action Plan that lays out steps that federal agencies will take during the next five years to protect water quality, control invasive species and restore habitat in the largest surface fresh water system in the world. McCarthy, who chairs the federal Great Lakes Interagency Task Force, released the plan at a meeting of Great Lakes Mayors in Chicago.

Shock Test Machine Saves Navy Big Bucks
The Navy's new Deck Simulator Shock Machine (DSSM) improves shipboard electronics reliability while reducing testing costs as equipment evaluations began in Philadelphia, saving the Navy $75,000 per test, as it meassures the effects of simulated underwater explosions on electronic equipment, informs Naval Sea Systems Command. The mammoth machine evaluates state-of-the-art, vibration-sensitive electronics cabinets weighing up to 1,500 pounds on shock isolation mounts.

A&P Tyne Shipyard Awarded Sub Fabrication Contract
A&P Groups Tyne Facility informs it has recently been awarded a £3 million project from BAE Systems for the fabrication of submarine sections. A&P explains that the scope of work will involve a number of complex structures, requiring the use of build jigs to maintain the accuracy during construction. The completed structures will be shipped back to BAE Systems for combination onto existing work within their facility.
Dorian LPG Receive Second New VLGC
Dorian LPG Ltd. operators of Very Large Gas Carriers ("VLGCs") says it has received the 'Corsair', the second VLGC in its newbuilding program. ECO VLGC "Corsair" was delivered from Hyundai Heavy Industries and will initially trade in the spot market. Dorian LPG is a liquefied petroleum gas shipping company and a leading owner and operator of modern VLGCs. Dorian LPG currently owns and operates five modern VLGCs and one pressurized LPG vessel.

US Coastguard Corpus Christi inform that a rescue helicopter has medevaced the crewmember of a container ship approximately 40 miles offshore of South Padre Island. The Coast Guard's 8th District watchstanders notified the Sector Corpus Christi Command Center at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, that a 24-year-old foreign male crewmember aboard the 892-foot container ship Monte Azul, was experiencing symptoms of appendicitis and requested to be taken off of the ship for treatment.
