Pope holds a bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Webb Institute. Before joining BHGI, Pope interned at Viking Cruises in Louisiana. During his time there, he created reports detailing the yard’s progress and various vendors. He collected and organized river and wave data, assembled speed trial information, performed squat calculations, and completed a concept vessel design.

American aerospace manufacturer ULA on Wednesday announced it has ordered a new ship to transport rockets from its factory in Decatur, Ala. to launch sites at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida and Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.ULA said it awarded a contract to build the 356-foot-long roll-on/roll-off vessel to Bollinger Shipyards, who recently started constructing the new ship at its shipyard in Amelia, La. This contract continues BHGI’s partnership with the Marine Design Center (MDC). On Monday, the new ocean transport barge Holland arrived at Electric Boat’s Groton Shipyard. The barge was purpose-built to support delivery of Columbia class ballistic missile submarines. General Dynamics Electric Boat is the prime contractor on construction of the Columbia class.The Holland was designed by Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. (BHGI) and constructed by Bollinger Shipyards, LLC, of Lockport, La. The namesake of the new barge is John Holland, the Irish-born immigrant who designed the first submarine purchased by the U.S. Navy.
