LNG Bunker Barge Completes Trials
Harvey Gulf announced the successful completion of liquefied natural gas (LNG) trials for the Conrad-built 2,200 cubic meter bunkering barge, Clean Jacksonville, using Harvey Gulf’s LNG Bunkering Facility in Port Fourchon, La.The box shaped barge arrived 15 days ago to the Harvey Gulf LNG terminal where Harvey’s LNG staff developed terminal specific procedures for review and approval by USCG. These procedures outlined the safe and efficient means of loading and receiving LNG for the trials on the bunker barge.

Harley's New ATB Completes Sea Trials
Harley Marine Services’ new tug OneCURE and the 80,000BBL, double hull, oceangoing barge Edward Itta have completed sea trials as combined articulated barge unit (ATB) on October 26, and the vessels have been accepted for delivery. The vessel trials, performed by Conrad Shipyard 10 miles south of Port Fourchon, included crash stops at various speeds, basic and high-speed maneuvering, systems monitoring and tests of main engine steering. Harley Marine Offshore Port Engineer, Randy Boyne, who was onboard, reported that the vessels responded as expected.
Conrad Shipyard Awarded Contract by Power Engineering
Conrad Shipyard of Morgan City, Louisiana has been awarded a contract by Power Engineering Construction Company of Alameda, California to build several components for the Water Emergency Transportation Authority’s (WETA) San Francisco Ferry Expansion Project. Construction will be completed at Conrad’s Orange, Texas shipyard. Conrad Awarded 9-Barge Build Contract
Conrad Shipyard said it has been awarded a contract to build four anchor barges, two deck barges and three crane varges for Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company LLC (GLDD), headquartered in Oak Brook, Ill. The four anchor barges will be built in Louisiana at Conrad’s Morgan City Shipyard, and the deck and crane barges will be built at its shipyard in Orange, Texas. Conrad Senior Vice President and Director Dan Conrad made the announcement: “We have delivered seven vessels to GLDD since 2003,” he said.
Harley Marine Orders Ocean Tugs from Conrad
Louisiana shipbuilder Conrad Shipyard said it has been awarded a contract to build two 3,000HP ocean service tugboats for Seattle’s Harley Marine Services. The two new vessels, designed by Entech Designs, LLC, will be 100-feet in length, with a beam of 34’. They will be powered by Caterpillar 3512C Tier 4 ARated Diesel Marine Engines, and equipped with two Caterpillar C4.4 99Kw at 1,800RPM generators. The two vessels are scheduled to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2018 and first quarter of 2019 respectively.
Conrad Shipyard Founder Parker Conrad Passed Away
John Parker Conrad, Sr., founder of Conrad Shipyard, died peacefully on July 6 surrounded by family and friends at his home in Morgan City, La. He was 101 years old. A shipbuilding pioneer and a legend along the Gulf of Mexico coast and beyond, Parker founded Conrad Industries in 1948. Conrad now has five shipyards along the Louisiana-Texas coast. From age 12 to age 17, Parker trained as a Christian Brother, which formed in him a deeply rooted and lifelong commitment to others.

Conrad Delivers Barge to Vane Brothers
Conrad Shipyard recently delivered the DOUBLE SKIN 510A, a 55,000-BBL capacity asphalt barge, to the Vane Brothers Company of Baltimore, Md. The DOUBLE SKIN 510A was constructed at Conrad’s Deepwater South facility in Amelia, La. and will operate out of Philadelphia, Pa.
Harley Marine Names Two ATBs
Harley Marine Services has named two articulated tug and barge (ATB) units currently under construction at Gunderson Marine (barges) and Conrad Shipyard (tugs), respectively. The vessels include two 116 foot tugs and two 80,000 barrel barges. The tugs, each being built at Conrad Shipyard of Morgan City, La. are 116 feet long with a beam of 36 feet. Each vessel is equipped with two GE Tier 4 propulsion engines, for a total of approximately 4,560 horsepower, and two John Deere Tier 3 generators. These cutting edge engines reduce NOx and particulate matter. The vessels are each equipped with a Markey tow winch and bow and stern fendering. Built at Gunderson Marine of Portland, Ore., the barges are 430 feet long with a beam of 76 feet with a carrying capacity of 80,000 barrels.
