Dutch Treat for Cavotec Moormaster at Ferry Terminal
Cavotec say that their first automated mooring application in the Netherlands is in place as two MoorMaster units were delivered and carefully lowered into position at Port Den Helder. The units will be used by two TESO passenger ferries on the Den Helder-Texel Island route. With a length of 130m, the ferries can hold up to 300 cars and some 1,750 passengers. The MoorMaster units will enable ships’ engines to idle during each 10-minute boarding process.

Panama Canal Extension: Work Hindered by Financial Dispute
The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) state that it has demanded that GUPC, the lead consortium in charge of the construction of the third set of locks, resume full work on the project as required by the contract. GUPC is formed by the companies Sacyr Vallehermoso, S.A (Spain), Impregilo, S.p.A. (Italy), Jan de Nul Group (Belgium) and Constructora Urbana, S.A. (CUSA) (Panama). After two weeks of negotiations, which saw production levels drop to 25%, ACP say that almost all activity has ceased.
China Oil Major to Step Up 2014 Offshore Exploration Plans
The company says it has an extensive exploration program and plans to drill roughly 155 exploration wells and acquire approximately 26.7 thousand kilometers of 2-Dimensional (2D) seismic data as well as approximately 19.4 thousand square kilometers of 3-Dimensional (3D) seismic data. Within the year, the company will continue to strengthen the deepwater exploration. In 2014, the company is targeted to a reserve replacement ratio (RRR) of over 100%.

Coast Guard Medevacs Woman from Cruise Ship
