ClassNK Publishes Annual Report on Port State Control
ClassNK has released its annual report on Port State Control. The report aims to assist ship operators and management companies in maintaining compliant operations by providing information about ships detained by PSC as well as deficiencies that were found on board from many port states in 2016. PSC inspections ensure that vessels departing the port meet international standards and have proved to be highly effective in eliminating substandard ships that are in operation.

Aluminium Marine Consultants informs it has handed over MO4 to Mainprize Offshore this week for work as a wind farm support vessel carrying both cargo, equipment and personnel out of the port of Hooksiel to the German wind farm sector on an eight-year contract with Deutsche Windtechnik on the Nordergründe wind farm. Nakilat Transitions LNG Carrier to In-house Management
Nakilat has assumed full ship management and operations of Q-Flex liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Al Sheehaniya from STASCo (Shell Trading and Shipping Company Ltd.) with effect from July 6, 2017, as part of the planned and phased transition announced on October 19, 2016. With a cargo carrying capacity of 210,200 cubic meters, Al Sheehaniya is wholly-owned by Nakilat and chartered by Qatargas.

The newest Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10) arrived in San Diego July 5, after successfully completing her maiden voyage from Mobile, Alabama. Denmark's Anholt Lighthouse from 1788 Up for Renovation
Renovation work on Anholt Lighthouse has begun and is expected to be finalised in late October. Brickwork, windows and doors are to be renovated. Once the renovation is complete, the classified lighthouse on the island of Anholt will be shining brightly. The front of the lighthouse is to be both replastered and painted and, in addition, both the windows and doors of the old lighthouse are to be renovated. Anholt Lighthouse is one of Denmark's oldest lighthouses.

Yildirim to Sell its Stake in CMA CGM
Turkish port operator Yildirim Holdings AS has announced plans to sell its 24 percent stake in the French shipping major CMA CGM, Bloomberg reported. The company mandated China Citic Bank Corp. to find investors from Asia or the Persian Gulf for its interest in the world’s third biggest container shipping company. “We will either exit our investment completely or remain as an ordinary shareholder,” said Yildirim.
