Wärtsilä to Supply Engines for Canadian Polar Icebreaker

Finnish technology group Wärtsilä reports it will supply the engines for a new Canadian Coast Guard Polar Icebreaker being designed and built at Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards.The 158 meter-long multi-mission Polar Icebreaker will operate under PC2 conditions with four 16-cylinder and two 8-cylinder Wärtsilä 31 engines, delivering 47 MW of power. The engines will be fitted with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems for IMO Tier III environmental compliance. Chinese shipyard Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI) has received an order for four MAN B&W 8S60ME-GI engines in connection with the building of four 10,800 CEU pure car and truck carriers (PCTC) for South Korean shipping owner, HMM Co. Ltd.CSIC Diesel Engine Co. MAN Bags First Propulsion Order for Its Methanol-fueled MAN 21/31DF-M GenSet

MAN Energy Solutions reports it has received an order for three MAN 6L21/31DF-M (Dual Fuel-Methanol) GenSets capable of running on methanol in connection with the construction of a 7,990 dwt IMO Type II chemical bunker tanker.The dual-fuel engines will form part of a diesel-electric propulsion system on board the vessel with electrical motors driving twin fixed-pitch propellers via gearboxes; an onboard battery-storage system will optimize the use of the dual-fueled generators.

Carnival Signs LTSA with MAN PrimeServ

MAN Energy Solutions, MAN Energy Solutions USA and Carnival Corporation & plc, the world’s largest cruise company, have signed a service agreement (LTSA) for five of Carnival’s Vista Class cruise ships powered by MAN 48/60CR type engines. Wärtsilä to Deliver Its First Ammonia Ship Engine in Early 2025
