Scott Joins Laborde
Laborde Products recently expanded its procurement department, with long-time veteran Dan Murphy leading the way. With Murphy’s promotion, there was a need to satisfy the position for a new parts manager. Joe Scott, a Kansas City native, residing in Dayton, Ohio joins the Laborde team to fulfill this role. Scott has a valuable history in the automotive industry with over ten years of experience in dealing with parts.
Trace Laborde becomes Laborde Products Marine Manager
Effective January 1, 2019, Trace Laborde was named Marine Manager of Laborde Products, Inc.Trace previously held the role of Branch Manager of Laborde Products Houston Operations, with responsibility of the Marine business in the Texas Market. Going forward Trace will be responsible for continuing the growth of Laborde Products’ marine business. Laborde Products is a distributor of marine engines for Mitsubishi, Yanmar, OXE Diesel Outboards, BUKH and Steyr Motors in the Gulf Coast, Inland River Valley and Caribbean.
Laborde Marine Announces Management Changes
New Orleans-based offshore oil industry service provider Laborde Marine Management announced that Ashton P. Laborde has been appointed as President of the Company effective January 1, 2019. Laborde joined the Company in 2007 and most recently served as Director of Marketing. Throughout his career at Laborde Marine, Ashton has held various positions of increasing importance in operations. The marine company which owns or operates a fleet of 25 vessels also annouced that John Peter Laborde, III, has joined the Company as Director of Finance.
Master Marine Delivers M/V Rick Pemberton
Master Marine announced that it has delivered the Entech Designs 67’ x 28’ M/V Rick Pemberton to Waterfront Services.The boat is powered by a pair of Laborde Products, Inc. Master Marine Signs Six Towboats
Master Marine, Inc. has signed Six (6) towboats and has laid the keels for the first two vessels. All Six (6) vessels will be 67’ x 28’ Entech Designs, LLC Sub. M compliant towboats. The first two will be working for Osage Marine Services, Inc., St. Louis, MO. with the rest operating in the lower Mississippi River system for an undisclosed customer. We are very happy to be teaming up with these companies to provide them and their customers the latest towboats and equipment available along with meeting Subchapter M requirements. Three Generations Backed by Four Mitsubishi Engines
The female dynasty of Vidalia Dock and Storage are no strangers to the Murky Mississippi, nor the advantage of a Mitsubishi powered vessel. When it came to repowering the Sonny J., Vidalia Dock knew right where to go.Purchased in early 2018, the vessel was fitted with a pair of 600HP Cummins K19 engines. With the goal of EPA Tier compliance and engine reliability, Laborde Products provided two fully mechanical Mitsubishi S6R-Y3MPTAW Tier III engines for the 65x24 vessel; these engines are rated 684HP @1800RPM each with Twin Disc 7:1 transmissions.
EBDG Adds Staff in New Orleans
Seattle based naval architecture and marine engineering firm Elliott Bay Design Group has added two marine professionals, Grayson Laborde and George Scully, to its New Orleans office.Laborde is a recent graduate of the University of New Orleans, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Over the past year, he has interned with Elliott Bay Design Group in the New Orleans office. He joins the team as a naval architect and is already contributing through his background in the OSV market and knowledge of the marine industry.Scully joins Elliott Bay Design Group as an electrical designer and brings 20 years of experience in engineering and design work. His experience includes working for both shipbuilding and offshore companies.
Master Marine Delivers Towboat to Waterfront Services
Alabama shipbuilder Master Marine has delivered Sam P. Hise, the third towboat in a series of four newbuilds for Illinois-based inland operator Waterfront Services Co.The 67’ x 28’ boat is set up with 10,400 gallons of fuel, 4,359 gallons of potable water and 9,500 gallons of ballast water along with providing a maximum 7’ 9” working draft.Each vessel will be powered by a pair of Laborde Products, Inc. Smith Maritime Hauls Equipment to Puerto Rico
Smith Maritime recently hauled a barge load of equipment on behalf of CAT5 Resources to help rebuild cellular communication infrastructure in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. Smith Maritime’s barge Marilyn Monroe was loaded at its terminal in Amelia, La. with vehicles, housing, bulk fuel, food and most importantly, self-powered cellular communication towers to reestablish communication on the island. Marilyn Monroe was towed by the tug Elsbeth 2, powered by fully mechanical Mitsubishi engines supplied by distributor Laborde Products and rated 1,675 HP at 1,600 RPM each.

New Push Boat Delivered to Devall Towing
The newly built M/V Jackson Scott has been delivered to owner Devall Towing and Boat Service of Hackberry, La. The Jackson Scott is a 64’ X 27’ inland push boat, powered by two fully mechanical, EPA Tier 3 engines rated 630HP @ 1,600RPM. The engines are coupled to Twin Disc MG 5222 transmissions turning four-blade 70” X 56” propellers. The M/V Jackson Scott follows four previous Devall Towboats with the same propulsion package from Laborde Products. Earlier vessels included the M/V Tug Devall, M/V Cooper Devall, M/V Aidan Devall and M/V Finili Ryanne.
MTEA Launches New EPA Tier 3 Marine Engine
Mitsubishi Turbocharger and Engine America, Inc. (MTEA) announces the introduction of a 684 hp at 1,800 rpm (510 kW at 1,800 rpm) engine that complies with EPA Tier 3 regulations. The new S6R-Y3MPTAW-1 model is a propulsion-certified unit ideal for heavy-duty workboat repower applications, such as with tugboats, cargo ships and offshore vessels. It’s a high horsepower, high displacement and high mass solution that achieves Tier 3 compliance in a fully mechanically controlled package.
Tradewinds Towing Returns to Laborde for Repowers
In September of 2006, Dominique Smith of the then one tug company Tradewinds Towing came to Laborde Products, to look at the S12R engine for the repower of the Miss Lis, an Alaskan built low profile tug he planned on repowering. Later that same month, the deal was made, and shortly thereafter, the Miss Lis set sail with new Mitsubishi engines and Reintjes transmissions supplied by Laborde Products. Since then, the engines have logged over 30,000 hours travelling throughout North, Central and South America.
Laborde wins Bukh Distribution Deal
Laborde Products has been selected as BUKH Diesel Marine Distributor for the United States marine market. "Our companies have tremendous synergies," stated Soren Pederson, BUKH sales manager. Gulf of Mexico vessel operators want to see sustained, higher oil prices. After a rough two years, supply boat owners and operators in the Gulf of Mexico hope crude oil prices will improve in 2017. That would encourage activity among the offshore drillers that they service and would put unemployed boats back in the water. Laborde Repowers Much of Stone Oil Fleet
