DP World is planning to annually inject up to $1 billion in global investments until 2020, local media quoted company chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem as saying. Deltamarin Joins GTT for LNG-Powered Ship Designs
Finnish ship designer Deltamarin, part of AVIC Group, together with France's Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT), an engineering company involved in membrane containment systems for transport and storage of LNG, has studied the use of membrane-type tanks on cargo and passenger vessels. For quite some time now, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) has been an established fuel alternative for short sea shipping routes and also acts as a complementary fuel for longer routes.
Schulte Group Buys LNG Specialist PRONAV
Hamburg shipowning and management group Bernhard Schulte has signed a contract for the acquisition of 100% of the shares in the prestigious LNG ship manager PRONAV - subject to merger approval of the German Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt). The worldwide operating Schulte Group owns about 100 vessels (mainly container, tanker, bulker) and manages 600 vessels in all segments. PRONAV, based in Hamburg, is an internationally renowned ship manager specialized in large LNG tonnage.
JR Shipping Seals Refinancing Deal
Dutch shipowner and manager JR Shipping has succeeded in involving a credit investment fund in London in the refinancing of JR Fleet Fund CV – a shipping fund which has financed eleven container feeders belonging to the shipping company’s fleet. Under the auspices of the shipping company, the British financier has taken over more than EURO 126 million (USD151 million) loan/debt from German HSH Nordbank.

CEMEX UK Orders Dredger from Damen
CEMEX UK Marine Limited has placed an order for the first Damen Marine Aggregate Dredger (MAD). The vessel, which will be built at Damen Shipyards Galati, in Romania, is designed to extract sand and gravel from the sea bed up to depths of 55 meters, including in the challenging conditions experienced in the North Sea. Damen said the MAD is the result of extensive market research and customer consultation.
