ASRY, stc Bahrain Launch Vehicle Fleet Management System

The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) completed the implementation of its vehicle fleet management and tracking system, developed in partnership with stc Bahrain, a digital enabler in the Kingdom.This project, which forms part of a broader series of strategic initiatives between the two parties, aligns with ASRY’s ongoing efforts to enhance operational excellence and drive its digital transformation through the adoption of emerging technologies and the execution of high impact projects that support the company’s continued growth and development.

Nippon Paint Marine Coats Grand Bahama Shipyard Ltd. Floating Dry Docks

Nippon Paint Marine, a marine coatings leader, has supplied its self-indicating epoxy coating NOA 60 HS, to protect two new floating dry docks for Grand Bahama Shipyard. The floating docks have a combined total of around 1.2 million square meters of surface to be protected. This equates to the area of over 168 full size FIFA football pitches. The dry docks, ‘East End’ and ‘Lucayan,' with lifting capacities of 120,000 tons, respectively, will expand the capacity at the yard in Freeport

Tsuneishi Acquires GTT Repair License

Tsuneishi Yura Dockyard has completed the prescribed technical training and consequently obtained an Approved Repair Yard license from GTT.GTT’s membrane containment systems currently equip approximately 85% of the LNG carrier fleet in operation worldwide.To date, Tsuneishi has focused on repair work for MOSS-type LNG carriers, accumulating a total of 108 completed vessels since the first one in 1982. “We will continue to develop our capabilities to enable repair and maintenance of both MOSS-type and membrane-type LNG carriers

The offshore division of Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY) in Bahrain is on track to deliver its 200th project milestone in the first quarter of 2026. ASRY Completes Multiple Rig Upgrades for ADES

The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) has completed several rig repair and upgrade projects for Saudi-based ADES Holding, strengthening the partnership between the two companies.In 2025, several ADES jack-up rigs underwent major works at ASRY’s facilities in Bahrain.The ADM-501 and ADM-504 units were prepared earlier in the year for drilling operations in Nigeria, while upgrade works on ADM-503 and ADM-511 were recently finalized ahead of upcoming drilling campaigns

Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY) has signed important agreements with leading Italian companies Fincantieri and Roboze to boost collaboration in shipbuilding and repair and establish the Kingdom of Bahrain’s first smart plant dedicated to additive manufacturing.ASRY signed a partnership agreement with Fincantieri to jointly assess opportunities for the design and construction of surface naval vessels up to 80 meters in length for domestic use by the Navy and the Coast Guard.The partnership agreement will also explore the design and construction of similar-sized offshore units

Italy’s Fincantieri and Bahrain’s Arab Shipbuilding & Repair Yard (ASRY) signed an industrial cooperation agreement to explore joint opportunities in naval and offshore vessel construction and maintenance.Under the agreement, the two companies will assess cooperation on designing and building surface military vessels up to 80 meters for the Bahrain Navy and Coast Guard, and offshore vessels of similar size. The partnership will also cover potential export contracts across the Gulf region.The companies plan to cooperate on maintenance

WinGD has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions, a leading shipbuilder and repair yard, to expand engine aftercare and technical services in the Middle East. The partnership, agreed upon during Nor-Shipping in June, will strengthen delivery of WinGD’s new lifecycle services offer, Global Service by WinGD, to Middle Eastern ship operators by enhancing regional capabilities in engine maintenance, repair, overhaul, and retrofitting.The collaboration will leverage Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions’ strategic location and quality infrastructure

The occasion was marked during a ceremony held at the company's headquarters in Hidd, attended by the Vice-President for Corporate Support, Shaikh Duaij bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.The program lasted for two months, during which a number of trainees underwent a set of integrated training activities carefully prepared by the relevant departments at the company to suit the students' academic specializations

ASRY Completes Work on Tanker Torm Venture

The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY)  completed the repair, maintenance and handover of the giant cargo tanker Torm Venture, owned by Denmark's Torm. The project involved major repair and maintenance works to renew the vessel and improve its operationalefficiency.‘During this project, we faced a challenge to complete the repairs and deliver the vessel successfully within just 14 days from the start of work, while the expected timeframe was 18 days," said Mahmood Hassan, a project manager at ASRY.

Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) unveiled an innovative solar energy project that it says embodies the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to build a future based on sustainability and innovation.The ASRY solar energy project is touted as the largest of its kind in the world in the ship repair and shipbuilding sector, in partnership with Kanoo CleanMax Renewables.The total capacity of the solar power plant is 22.5MW in the first phase, plus 22MW in the second.

The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) conducted its 2025 Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Week August 11 to 13 under the theme “Elevating HSE Culture with Safe Summer.”.The three-day program drew wide participation from ASRY and subcontractors’ employees alongside representatives of relevant government bodies and industrial firms in Bahrain.The week opened with a formal ceremony attended by senior company officials and representatives of the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Interior, Bahrain Civil Defence, and the companies SULB and Foulath Holding.

Marine battery maker AYK Energy is gearing up production after striking a deal to undertake the biggest ever battery retrofit on a vessel operated by Finnish shipping line Wasaline.AYK will install a 10.4MWh battery on the hybrid-electric Ropax ferry, the Aurora Botnia, which operates a daily service between Finland and Sweden. Built in 2021, the Aurora Botnia presently operates on dual-fuel LNG/biomass engines and 2.2 MWh batteries. The upgrade to a battery system nearly five times more powerful is expected to reduce fossil energy use by around 10

Silverstream Targets LNG Carriers with Shenzhen Yard Partnership

Air lubrication system company Silverstream Technologies has signed an MoU with Yiu Lian Dockyards (Shekou), one of the largest ship repair yards in China and part of China Merchants Group.The partnership aims to drive retrofit installations of the Silverstream® System.Yiu Lian Dockyards (Shekou) operates repair yards in Shekou, Shenzhen. The shipyard accepts all major vessel types but is well known as the leading repair yard in China for LNG carriers.The dockyard has serviced 734 vessels in the past three years from all segments, and so far in 2024 alone, it has dry-docked 28 LNG carriers.
