The U.S. Coast Guard is coordinating search efforts for a missing man after an explosion on an oil platform in Lake Pontchartrain near Kenner, La., Sunday evening.

As of today (October 16, 2017), the Ohio River is now OPEN at Lock & Dam 52 (L&D 52). The river reopened on Saturday after it had been closed for nearly a week due to rising river stages that exceeded the maximum locking stage of 20.7 feet. Precipitation from Hurricane Nate prompted the rising river levels and closure, but L&D 52 was closed from September 6-14 due to an unscheduled maintenance outage at the 89-year-old facility.

Maersk Drilling Gets Contract Extensions for Two Rigs
Maersk Drilling has been awarded two contract extensions in the North Sea. Both rigs have recently been re-activated to the North Sea from warm stacking. The estimated duration of the two extensions is 105 days. IWAI Raises Funds Through Bonds
The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) has raised Rs. 660 crore (USD 102mln) as “Government of India(GOI) Fully Serviced Bonds”. The resources raised by way of bonds are in addition to the budgetary support from the Government of India. The Government had taken a decision to enable IWAI to raise Rs 660 crore through GOI Fully Serviced Bonds in 2017-18. The IWAI had engaged arrangers, credit rating agencies, registrars and trustees prior to raising the Bonds.

Hybrid Energy Storage Solution Installed on Viking Princess
Wärtsilä said it completed the installation of a hybrid energy system on board offshore supply vessel (OSV) Viking Princess. The Norwegian vessel is now the first ever OSV in which batteries reduce the number of generators aboard the ship. The new energy storage solution will improve engine efficiency, generate fuel savings and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Viking Princess completed sea trials and the system was handed over to customer Eidesvik Offshore on October 9, 2017.

Unique Barge-ferry Delivered in Canada
At the completion of its 1,000 km drive along the highway from Edmonton to Hay River and the 850 km sail down the Mackenzie River to Norman Wells, the Aurora Yukon was delivered to its owner by the builder Waiward Steel LP of Edmonton, AB. The Aurora Yukon will operate with an existing tug, to carry vehicles and passengers across the Mackenzie River at Norman Wells. The Aurora Yukon replaces an existing barge which was originally built in 1969. The barge was designed by Robert Allan Ltd.
